Von anderen Quellen ist abzuraten - die "Shareaza v4", die auf shareaza.com angeboten wird, stammt aus dubiosen Quellen - ob nun iMesh und die "legale Tauschbörsen"-Industrie dahintersteckt oder ob es sich um "normale" Ad/Spyware handelt, ist unklar. Mit der Open Source-Community um den originalen Client hat der Ableger außer dem Namen wahrscheinlich wenig gemein.

Ich entferne jetzt die Links der vorigen Posts, denn beim Googlen konnte ich auch keinen Hinweis auf eine v4 finden. Aktuell scheint die v2.3.1 vom 01.01.08!!

Hab mal was gefunden:

1. It doesn't install anything harmful to your PCs. That's the main thing which all we care of.
2. If you install their media toolbar, they will overwrite your home page in both Internet Explorer and FireFox. They provide some search ability to search for videos, music etc (look at search.shareazaweb.com/IMSearch.html). DON'T use it. They use http://www.google-analytics.com to track all searches. I don't know what harm it makes, but it looks like they are gathering all info about user searches and do their business. I don't believe they keep all that data private.
3. They delete Shareaza.exe from real Shareaza installation and use the same path in registry as we do. They delete all Shareaza plugins registration. It's for sure a bad practice and should be complained. Nobody gave them rights to overwrite or delete registry stuff not of their application. That's how all malware works. Messes with your registry etc. So, in my opinion, it behaves as malware but not as harmful as others.
4. It installs some database to keep all hashes, downloaded files and chat logs. Where is it used I have no idea. 10 MB of database for logs it's something strange after the fresh installation. And why that log table is needed I have no idea too. It's just suspicious.
5. Their uninstallers do not work, so even don't try to uninstall it. It simply does nothing and leaves all registry mess and files in your PC. You have to delete registry and their installation folder too.

That's the procedure to clean everything:

1. Run these commands from the Start->Run:

2. Delete these folders:
C:Documents and Settings{your user name}Application DataShareaza
(make sure you don't have your downloaded files here; in such case move them to some other folder)

3. Delete files:
C:WINDOWSsystem32actskn45.ocx

4. Delete registry paths by running Start->regedit:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareShareaza
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREShareaza
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMusicNet
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionUninstallShareaza

5. Restore your home pages in browsers.
