FrostWire ist eine kostenlose Open-Source-Alternative zu LimeWire.

Das in Java geschriebene FrostWire erlaubt den Zugriff auf die Gnutella-Netzwerke. So können Sie mit Nutzern auf der ganzen Welt Dateien austauschen. Die Suche verläuft schnell, die Treffer werden aufgelistet, und auf Knopfdruck ist die gewünschte Datei auf Ihrem Rechner.

Here are the changes for 4.13.1.8:

- No more “BETA”, this is the final release of the 4.13.1.8 branch
- Included translation to Portuguese (Since our Brazilian User Base is the second biggest one out there).
- Cleaner debian installer (Thanks to the “Ubunteros” that kept complaining).
- Compatibility fix for Beryl (Thanks to the “Ubunteros” again)
- Frostwire will actually shutdown on Linux without you having to set up the Tray System settings.
- Updates on Chat Banner system. Memory Leak fixed, Banners can be targetted by language, ip range and country. (Want to advertise on the FrostWire Chat?)
- Misc Updates to the Chat.
- When music files are launched they’re automatically added to the playlist (Finally).
- Fixed bug on “Explore” button where it’d launch the file instead of the folder that contains the file.
- Dev. tools to synchronize translation files, and quick build script.
- Removed all Simpp messages.

The Mac and Linux installers (deb, tgz, rpm) are ready. We’re waiting for the new Windows Installer to be ready to do the official launch sometime this week.

4.13.1.8 is the same as 4.13.2, it was just getting out of hand with the numbers, and since it's a major release with so much changes, we decided to keep it simple for you guys to follow. We believe its important enough to name it 4.13.2.

Changes in version 4.13.5:
* Faster peer discovery on connection bootstraping. No more “Starting Connection…” problems, first time users will connect faster without using the official FixConnecting.zip patch.
* y Support to the chatroom
- Users can see the available smileys by entering the command /smileys
- Now its possible to see and use ys from the Community Chat tab, y display can be enabled or disabled from the view menu
- Users can also toggle y display directly from the chat window by typing the command /tsmileys
* Fixed wording on Spanish and Polish translations.

Bug Fixes and other improvements for this release also include:
* FrostWire Message Update System improved. Per community request, some announcements will not be shown more than once so the user is not annoyed upon every application launch
* Fixed bugs on the media player and playlists on Preview.
* Fixed bug on search box auto-focusing while a search was running.
* Fixed i18n system error for systems which default language is not english
* Potential bugs related to deprecated code gone

FrostWire "Die freie Open Source Alternative."

FrostWire ist ein Ableger des populären Limewire Clients für das Gnutella Netzwerk. FrostWire kombiniert die Vorteile des Gnutella Netzes mit allen Vorteilen der Open Source Community.

Limewire LLC wird aktuell dazu gezwungen einen DRM Inhaltsfilter in seine Clients zu integrieren. Damit dürfen Nutzer nur noch Dateien zum Tausch freigeben, die eine entsprechende Lizenz besitzen. Falls Limewire in Zukunft wirklich dazu übergeht die DRM Technologie zu implemetieren wird Frostwire diesen Weg nicht mitgehen.

FrostWire wird aber auch in Zukunft weiterhin die Design Philosophie des Limewire Clients unterstützen und eng mit dem Limewire Entwicklungsteam zusammenarbeiten. Eine kostenpflichtige Pro-Version wird es wie bei Limewire nicht geben, ebenso enthält Frostwire weder Spyware, Adware, Malware noch unerwünschte Werbung. Frostwire ist ein Open Source Projekt welches keinerlei kommerziellen Ziele verfolgt.
